Cody Matkin

Account Executive

Cody Matkin serves as an Account Executive at SAM. He joined the SAM team in 2025 with over seven years of association management experience and more than a decade in hospitality sales.

Previously, he served as deputy director of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), where he managed board operations, multimillion-dollar budgets, staff activity, and statewide conferences while also supporting legislative advocacy at the Texas Capitol.

Cody began his career at TCA as a conference and meeting planner, coordinating logistics for large-scale conventions, governance meetings, and divisional events across Texas. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Cody held sales roles with Fairmont, IHG, and Marriott properties in Austin and San Antonio. In those roles, he managed association and government travel markets, building relationships with many of the same organizations he now serves in an executive capacity.

Cody holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from Texas A&M University. He applies a thoughtful communication style, strategic mindset, and deep knowledge of operations, governance, finance, and events to his work.

Family: Husband Larry and two sons.

Outside of work, I love... to get creative by making art, taking travel photographs, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, gardening, and reading.

What inspires me about working with associations: I enjoy helping volunteer leaders realize their goals for their organization and all the new things you learn along the way.
